The Decision That Changed His Timeline

In early 2005, a client approached me with a plan. He wanted to rebuild his single-storey semi-D at Jalan Dedap.

At that time, reconstruction would cost approximately $800,000 to $1 million. On the surface, it made sense — upgrade the house, improve the space, and stay in a familiar location.

But when I looked at it from a Feng Shui perspective, the issue was clear. Rebuilding would shift the house into a new period — from Period 6 to Period 8. And the chart didn’t fly well.

What was originally about a 60% house would drop to roughly a 40% house. Over time, that affects stability — finances, family harmony, and the overall ease of life.

He had a full household. Three children, his parents, and a helper. This wasn’t just about space. It was about whether the house could hold everyone properly.

So I told him directly, “Don’t rebuild. Sell, and buy a resale with better fundamentals.”

We started viewing properties. Eventually, we came across a semi-D at Jalan Dedap. It wasn’t flashy, but it was solid. From a Feng Shui standpoint, it was about a 70% house — stable, supportive, with room to grow.

He decided to go ahead.

While renovating the new place, he considered selling his old house. At that time, the valuation was around $800K. He asked me a very practical question: “If I sell now, is that the best move?”

I told him this: “We’ve just entered Period 8 (2004–2023). Property prices will rise. If you can hold… wait about a year.”

It wasn’t guesswork. It was timing based on the cycle.

Nine months later, we put the house on the market. It sold for $1.3M. That decision alone made a significant difference.

But the story didn’t end there.

Four years later, he sold the Jalan Dedap house for $4.87M.

What This House Revealed

Feng Shui is not just about layout or direction. It’s about knowing when a house is worth upgrading, knowing when it’s better to walk away, and most importantly… knowing when to act.

Most people focus on the property. I focus on whether the timing and the house can support your life — and your decisions.

Because when both align, the results don’t need to be dramatic.

They just… work.
